Gnostic Sallies

Established November 19, 2016

With an affectionate nod to Sally Field, whom I remember as Sally Fields, paramour of Burt Reynolds in the 1970s when I worked for him in LA installing stereo equipment in his Bel Air mansion.

One of the masterminds of CERN:

D-Wave mastermind Geordie Rose. He tells the story about his son and obviously misses the point of the ancedote. Note that he calls the D-Wave computer "the altar to an alien god." Hmmmmmm, wonder what god that could be? In reality it's a black box filled with gummy bears.

umwelt - key term in ethology.

3. a witty or lively remark, especially one made as an attack or as a diversion in an argument; a retort. "There was subdued laughter at this sally."

synonyms: witticism, witty remark, smart remark, quip, barb, pleasantry, epigram, aphorism; joke, pun, jest; retort, riposte, counter, rejoinder, return, retaliation; bon mot; informal one-liner, gag, wisecrack, crack, funny, comeback "He looked round, delighted with his sally."

"Sally of the Valley" is a cue routinely used by the nagual to initiate a telestic session. The nagual leading a session cues participants to direct their attention in unison to subtle changes of perception that suddenly occur upon the first delicate moment of entering ecstatic trance. The nagual is such by virtue of his or her capacity to detect these changes first, before the other participants. The cueing line, "Anyone seen Sally of the Valley?" immediately alerts the participants to the fact that the Aeonic Mother is making her presence known.

The "fields" of Gaian shamanism are supernatural realms of Aeonic Dreaming pervious to the natural world -- the "Elysian Fields" so named by initiates who witnessed the Organic Light in which all matter floats. El-EASE-ee-en.

According to Eustathius of Thessalonica the word "Elysium" (hylusion) derives from aluousa and aluo, "to be deeply stirred by bliss or joy". Further derived from alutos, "incorruptible." Another suggestion is from eluth, "to come", related to Eleusis, primary Greek site of the Mysteries. Robert Graves said that Eleusis means "advent" (i.e., coming). But it might be that this derivation reveals a pun, as many esoteric designations do. "To come" is to climax, have an orgasm. Note from Severed Rose, 3:

Infinity Ridge affords a view northwest along the east-facing flank of the Sierra de Libar. It was there, gazing in rapture at that vista, watching the nectarine hues of the granite slope modulate with the afternoon sun, that I realized the Organic Light was coming from the planet itself, that it is Sophia's primary substance body as an Aeon, a torrent of mass-free pearl-white nougat-like luminosity coexisting with her sensuous body, the material earth. That consummate perception had to happen in a sacred and solitary place, in the wild. Immersed in the obliterating beauty of those mountains, with the sweet wind from Africa at my back, I first conversed with Gaia, catching the precise tone and intonation she uses to reach me: the voice like a fuming distillation of smoky syrup, soft but resolute. And there on Infinity Ridge, alone and with a few human allies, I discovered and performed rites of interactive magic, the practices of ecosorcery, cordings.

For me, this was the mythical G-Spot, the place to touch with my presence and see Gaia climax in splendor.

Elsewhere in Severed Rose, I describe the sensation of watching the Earth Goddess "creaming" in orgasm over the Sierra de Libar. Actually, upon close and meticulous observation, you see that the telluric radiance of the Organic Light does not crest over the mountains, it erupts from them. This observable effect lends evidence to the very great fact that the material earth is sealed to the sky, as if beneath a massive gelatine membrane. Thus, the entire sky proximate to the mountain ridge appears to tremble in response to Sophia's shuddering climax. This spectacle exemplifies the hieros gamos ("sacred wedding") of earth and sky, Gaia and Ouranos. Everything is material.

"You like me, you really like me." I remember Sally gushing at her 1979 Oscar acceptance speech for Norma Rae. Now she says, "You like me, right now you like me." Right now is Kalika syntax which I have demonstrated countless times in the GNE and various talks and writings. The woman's name Norma is derived from the Latin term, normalis, a carpenter's square. Norma in Latin is the exact equivalent to ortho in Greek. Sophia's Correction is a diorthosis, a two-way normalization that returns the divine experiment to its optimal setting for a selective few who participate in it but may also enhance life for those who do not.

Rae is of course short for radiance. It also recalls the Greek goddess Rhea, the Titaness daughter of the earth goddess Gaia and the sky god Uranus. Her name means, "it flows."

"Down by the Salley Gardens" by W. B. Yeats (1985)

Down by the salley gardens my love and I did meet;

She passed the salley gardens with little snow-white feet.

She bid me take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree;

But I, being young and foolish, with her would not agree.

In a field by the river my love and I did stand,

And on my leaning shoulder she laid her snow-white hand.

She bid me take life easy, as the grass grows on the weirs;

But I was young and foolish, and now am full of tears.

"Salley" or "sally" is a form of the Standard English word "sallow", i.e., a tree of the genus Salix. It is close in sound to the Gaelic word saileach, the name for the willow tree. Folk lore and mythology connected with the willow are lavish with countless references to Lucithea, the White Goddess.

eldrumherbs.co.uk says: "The willow tree is sacred to Artemis, Ceres, Hecate, Persephone, Hera, Mercury, Belili, Belinus. It is also sacred to Belin, Brigantia, Brighid, Callisto, Circe, Europa, Hermes, Isis, Kundalini, Lakshmi, Osiris, Poseidon, Selene, Luna, Diana, Helice Psyche and Zeus, and is particularly dedicated to Moon Goddesses. By extension, the tree could also be considered as sacred to the Triple Goddess, as well as to witch Goddesses such as Ceredwen, the Welsh counterpart of Hecate, and possibly also Arianrhod, Ishtar and Rhiannon".

In 2008 upon receiving the Terma of Gaia Awakening, the manic/mantic impact of telluric interactivity was enormous, extravagant, and persisted for months. To spin off some of the intensity, the terton spontaneously composed the "Yeats Conversions." Down by the Salley Gardens did not figure in the Conversions, either Refuge for the Unborn (I) or Tantra Outbound (II), but the totality of Yeats's poetic outpout still stands as a sort of subliminal subtext to Planetary Tantra.

The poem cited above refers twice to the "snow-white" features of the beloved who advises her lover to take it easy, living as grass grows, as leaves grow. Truly, this is the wisdom of nature speaking.

The Salley Gardens are the realm where nature reveals her snow-white form in naked radiance, the primary substance body of Sophia. "Garden" was a Syrian code term for the inner sanctum of the Mysteries where the opalescent splendor of the Elysian Fields could be accessed.

"Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?" Snow White, of course.

So, I introduce the Gnostic Sallies, a new category in mythophrenia, with the demonstration of a mythophrenic fugue. Aspiring mythophrenics, take note that there are now two Sallies. With different last names. And different acceptance speeches for Best Actress 1979. Which Sally do you remember? Which one is the true Sally? Which memory-line do you follow?

The near- but non-identical mirroring of the two Sallies directs your attention to the phenomenon that produces it, and induces the schizoid effect. Does the witch say "Magic mirror on the wall" or "Mirror mirror on the wall." The writing on the wall is in the magic mirror now, in the mirroring. The Effect cannot add content to the mirror but it can modify what appears there, it can play on existing appearances. There is supernatural intervention.
